"US forces just destroyed – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a large facility, where the vessels come from. The other night, we took it out. So we hit them decisively," Trump reportedly said to GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Should a US military action were to be verified, it would mark the initial land strike since the Pentagon began a buildup of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to disrupt drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
