European Football's Governing Body Launches Disciplinary Investigation Involving Pedro Neto Following Push Involving PSG Youth Assistant.

UEFA has commenced formal action against Chelsea's Pedro Neto after he shoved a ball boy during a Champions League loss against PSG.

The 26-year-old, Neto, pushed the attendant during added time of the last-16 first leg at Parc des Princes – where Chelsea lost heavy defeat – which caused the boy falling from his seat.

The incident triggered a heated exchange between both sets of players.

Officials stated proceedings have been instigated against the player for "unsporting behaviour" in accordance with UEFA's code.

"Disciplinary officials will decide on this case at a later date," European football's governing body added in its statement.

The Chelsea player apologised for the incident attributing it to getting swept up "in the emotion of the game" while he was attempting to quickly retrieve the match ball.

"I'm not like this. It was in the heat of the moment and I sincerely apologise. My shirt was given to him. I feel terrible about it - I feel I have to apologise to him," Neto explained to broadcasters.

"My French is not very good, so teammate Vitinha came over and told him I was not like this.

"At the end he accepted the apology and I presented him with my jersey and said sorry many times. He understood what had happened and was satisfied with how it was resolved."

The London club face PSG next Tuesday in the second leg, following Newcastle's visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in domestic competition.
